Harvest Festival
We welcomed Allison Goodfellow (Church Warden at St. Mary's Church, Thakeham) to our new school as part of our Harvest Festival on 5th October.  We joined together as a school to give thanks for all the wonderful food we enjoy and to celebrate all those who make this possible, including God of course!  Elder class delivered some thought provoking messages, Oak class shared their Harvest poem with us and Maple class shared their Harvest prayers.  Wonderful Harvest artwork from Acorn class and super singing by all made this a wonderful celebration.  The generous gifts of food will be delivered to the charity Family Social Work for distribution to those in need.
Hurricane Irma - Visit from Steyning Grammar School Y12/13 Boarding School Students
Every child took part in active events from Acorn riding their bike around the playground to other classes running various distances around the field to raise money to support relief events in the Caribbean.
University of Chichester - Creativity Project
We are really excited to be working with Maddie, Amy, Lauren, Cindy and Terri from Chichester to help develop an area on our school field for our Forest School work.  Together with help from parents they have already made a significant difference to the site, clearing away brambles and stingy nettles and trimming back trees.  Next job is to secure the site and make it safe for children to use with the help of fencing.  We are also lucky enough to have sponsorship from Oakford Homes which will help transform this area.  A great community project which will really make a difference to the children.
Black History Month
At Thakeham we are celebrating Black History Month through assemblies learning about key black people and their achievements in history and in the present.  We took part in a day of dance and culture on 10th October led by 'One Day Creative'.  This got our bodies active and our minds really thinking and reflecting.
